The short version
Perennial Bookclub sends you a reading from a classic book every morning by email. To do that we keep your email address, your first name if you give it, and which newsletters you read. We never sell your information, and you can unsubscribe at any time from the link at the bottom of every email.
Who we are
Perennial Bookclub is run by Prometheus Labs, Kitchener, Ontario, Canada ("we", "us"). Questions about your privacy go to hello@perennialbookclub.com.
What we collect and why
- Your email address, so we can send the newsletters you asked for.
- Your first name, only if you give it, so our emails can say hello.
- Which newsletters you read and how far along you are, so each morning's reading is the right one.
- Whether our emails are opened and which links are clicked. Our email service records this by default. We use it only to see which readings people enjoy and to keep our sending healthy.
- If you become a member: your name, email address and the details of your membership (plan, dates and amounts paid). Card payments are handled by Stripe; we never see or store your card number.
- Emails you send us, so we can answer them.
Services we use
We share only what each service needs to do its job:
- Kit sends our emails, keeps the subscriber list, runs this website and handles membership sign-ups (Kit's privacy policy).
- Stripe processes membership payments for Kit (Stripe's privacy policy).
- Cloudflare hosts the "Manage my newsletters" page and the pictures in our emails, and forwards email sent to our address (Cloudflare's privacy policy).
- Google holds the inbox where your emails to us arrive, and supplies the fonts this website uses (Google's privacy policy).
Some of these companies store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be subject to the laws of that country.
How long we keep it
We keep your information while you are subscribed. When you unsubscribe, we stop emailing you. Records of membership payments are kept for as long as Canadian tax rules require.
Your choices
- Unsubscribe at any time with the link at the bottom of any email.
- Change your newsletters or your first name with the "Manage my newsletters" link in any email.
- Ask us to show you, correct or delete what we hold about you by writing to hello@perennialbookclub.com.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
